Rules which can vary

Blinds- Blinds are the the money that you have to bet without seeing any cards not all styles of poker implent this, and the size of the blind will depend on the stakes of the game. The idea of the blind is to prevent people instantly folding when they have a bad start to a game.

Aces- Aces can be hi or low depending on the rules of the table, usually in poker aces are high, but there are certain games where this is the case. And for your own sake, although it may sound painstakingly obvious make sure you know whether your playing hi or low before you start. There is nothing more humiliating and costly at the same time than putting down three aces and loosing to three two's when you were convinced you'd won.
